I've been a long time Explosions in the Sky fan. Their style of music (Post Rock--instrumental rock that is beautiful and atmospheric at times, and loud and awesome at others) works for me because there are no lyrics to distract me. I work at a computer, editing, and depending on what I'm listening to I'll be clicking along only to realize I haven't done anything in 3 minutes because I spaced off listening to a song's lyrics. Then I rabbit trail into what did that line mean, and who are these guys, and when are they playing next. There goes the work day.
So if you need something in the background but are sensitive to distracting (or terrible) lyrics, give EITS a try:
If you listen to the SSB podcast at work, I hope we aren't too distracting. The long awkward pauses while we search for something on the internet to talk about should help get you back focused on your work!
